Some of Martin Luther King's Observations Are Still Relevant Today
Trying to understand the black experience from a black person's point of view can take some doing, especially if you are starting from scratch.
Fifty years ago, today's millenials (ages 19 to 34) were just a gleam in their father's eyes. Also, not all Americans of every ethnicity knew
about the teachings or observations of Martin Luther King. At that time King referred to Blacks as "The Negro" as he described their plight in
American society. Many things have changed since King's most active period of his life but a lot of things have not.The following quote from King's
writings ring just as true today in 2016 as it did fifty years ago-
"Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever. The yearning for freedom eventually manifests itself, and that is what has happened to the American Negro. Something within has reminded him of his birthright of freedom, and something without has reminded him that it can be gained."
To get a basic understanding of what King's Obervations were, read his "Letter from A Birmingham Jail " at the following website

After the read, it may be useful for you to begin a discussion about how to help improve the 'plight' of today's 2016 black father, black mother and black child.
