North Philly Da Hood Circa 1958-1963

Think back to your parent's 3rd and 4th grade at age 9 and 10, circa 1958-1959.Then, summer time.Endless days and long summer nights! The brothas were playin': stick ball,wall ball,king ball, marbles,checkers and wearing converse sneakers when riding home- made scooters and ten- speed bikes.The little sistas were playin' jacks,
jumpin' double dutch,playing hop scotch.The sistas and the brothers were playing Hot Bread and Butter.Bean shooters were in and so were crushed soda cans and bottle caps.
At residential summer camp in the Poconos mountains they were singing, "So Fine, yeah-my baby so dog gone fine!" After camp, they were back on the block singing "Poison Ivy" or "South Street".
That's how it was, "Back in the day".
