North Philly Da Hood Circa 1958-1963

Think back to your parent's 3rd and 4th grade at age 9 and 10, circa 1958-1959.Then, summer time.Endless days and long summer nights! The brothas were playin': stick ball, wall ball, king ball, marbles, checkers and wearing converse sneakers when riding home- made scooters and ten- speed bikes. The little sistas were playin' jacks,
jumpin' double dutch, playing hop scotch. The sistas and the brothers were playing Hot Bread and Butter.Bean shooters were in and so were crushed soda cans and bottle caps.
At residential summer camp in the Poconos mountains they were singing, "So Fine, yeah-my baby so dog gone fine!" After camp, they were back on the block singing "Poison Ivy" or "South Street".
That's how it was, "Back in the day".
Think back as you hear the sounds at http://youtu.be/_zosQnwsPcE and
http://youtu.be/22Wk98lH2fU and http://youtu.be/1Kh555NjxnU

Time was endless!Youth was eternal ! What will your summertime childhood memories be ??

"Dad"

"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet".According to the Phrase Finder, at
http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/305250.html this phrase originated from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet,1600.

I conducted a rapid but limited, magnified, transcultural and vernacular view of the variations of the term,"Dad".The following list comprises only the synonymous terms for "Dad" that were spelled with english alphabetical characters:

Father pappy pa pater
Pops tata baba ayah
Daddy daidi cha pai
Old Man tatay pappa padre
Papa nana
Obviously, Dads existed prior to the invention of the printing press and
other names for Dads (from bygone days or in cultures without recorded language) may still exist.
The Phrase Finder notes the "meaning" of the Shakespeare Quote, " What matters is
what something is, not what it is called ".
What does,"Dad" mean to you ?

The Father's Day Itch

It's that time again and dear old Dads in the US of A will get tokens of appreciation
on June 19th.Where I come from, most Dads are like the family dog...content with tasty left-overs, a fantastically artful drool and a good pair of comfortable old shoes! Some other Dads just want a soft lady, a handy remote and a hard game of tennis, catch or B-ball.Then,
there's the group of Dads who have an itch, as they say," For this, that and the third": The itch to take that flashy sport's car (in the new car dealership's showroom) for a spin.Or an itch to try out a new tool or gadget. Some of them itch to lay a dime on the odds. Others, just itch to get a breather!
If your Dad is just itchin' and you don't know why, just anticipate his needs and
give him a little Scratch!

Nature's Work Ethic

Dear Graduates of The Academies of The Universes. You should not be dismayed by the
current unemployment trends and bleak economic forecasts! Big government, small government and private sector not-withstanding, the following quotes will serve you well as you adopt your work ethic perspective:
" Nothing happens until something moves."- Albert Einstein

'The first step in working is to move your butt.'-Flash Mc Cool

Mother Nature teaches us that one and one quarter million Wildebeest (with a little encouragement from a few lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs and crocodiles) will move their booties up to 70 miles per hour to find and graze,"7,000 tons of ripened grass a day or 2.5 million tons of grass a year!" That's a whole lotta work to stay fed over a full year's time...AND a whole lotta poop!
Get the scoop on the poop people! We got work to do !
