The Tree Whisperer
Was it a tall shadowy figure with lean feely fingers
or the short hunched-over little old lady, who smiled
fondly and admired the trees as she fed the pidgeons?
No! It was the 'invisible creature' that I saw
moving about the Trees as I sat on a train barreling
down the tracks back to my cave.
Not a cloud was in the sky and the Sun seemed to beam
everwhere, spreading the nurturant Gift of Life amongst
Nature's offspring. In this vivid scene, I saw the details of Tree branches and leaves being parted, pulled
back, gently massaged and caressed to expose them to a
Greater Source of Light and Life! The slow sway of the
Trees enabled me to focus on the invisible 'Tree Whisperer' who was training the young saplings and
nursing the old oaks to keep them strong and vibrant.
Aaaaaaah the gusto of Life! When I finally discovered who the Tree Whisperer was,I saw a Hawk land on a pole
that supported the catenary wires for the suburban train.I thought,'The train outran the hawk' but soon
when the leaves have all fallen from the trees, the hawk will return along with the 'Tree Whisperer' and the
natural rituals of Life will return again. At that instant ( in my mind's eye)the cloak of invisibility was lifted on the' Tree Whisperer' as I clearly saw the
hands of the Wind at work...

The Lethal Lickedly Kiss
Valentine's Day brings back so many memories! I don't remember my first kiss
but I do remember the addage,"All is fair in Love and War".As a guy, I always wanted to be in control.Of course, ladies liked to rattle that notion.
One day, the young woman used the element of surprise on me.She laid 'a secret martial art lickedly kiss' on me.She told me she learned the lightning strike maneuver in "The Transkei".Shocked,I froze-not wanting to lose control. Before I could regain my composure, she laid another'Lickedly kiss' on me.I decided to surrender and threw down my arms. She used both of them against me,reduced me to mush and had her way with me!
I remember that there is nothing worse than the agony of defeat. I had lost the battle but somehow had 'won the war'!

The Thief
Five days a week for the last 18 months,I was victimized by 'The Thief'.
Buying a daily paper and a bottle of green tea every morning at a small cafe' downtown set old Flash Mc Cool up as a mark. Each morning, the
captivating cashier cleverly swapped seductive glances and more for my cold cash.Day by day, fiber by fiber she dissected my heart, leaving a gaping hole
behind the red hankerchief in my suit jacket pocket!
A daily irresistible smile, whiff of hypnotic perfume,a sheer blouse, a
cheerful "Good morning" and a 'longing wish' for a nice weekend were the tools of her trade! Then, there was the shocking and maddening lip gloss that altered my senses
Now,like a zombie with wide-eyes, heavy panting and eternal gratitude,I
accept her gift of a modified heart this Valentine's Day.My heart now skips a beat only when she is near ! You see, she only
stole my heart to give it back to me when it counted !

Civilized Barbarism ?
You would think that evolution would bring out the best in all men and societies,as they continue on the path to civilization.Yet,on this day of celebrating the writings and life of Martin Luther King Jr., another reality appears to be emerging. The global news media increasingly reports accounts of uncivilized behaviors among advanced cultures and societies's and man's inhumanity to man.
The variables of," cultural relativism" are too numerous and complicated for this old hoboclown to decipher and analyze with a limited and old magnifying glass.I stopped examining the facts and evidence when I got investigation fatigue!
The web-linked reference below brings to mind, the quote by Martin Luther King,Jr.
"A nation or civilization that continues to
produce soft-minded men purchases its
own spiritual death on an installment plan."

1796 Meets 2012 and 2016
Recent years' US contentious, unproductive and partisan
politics made me seek comfort with my two old companions (Education and History) to get an understanding of what the recent political gridlock was all about.
History (defined as," Inquiry, knowledge, acquired by investigation" at
wikipedia.org)
led this old hoboclown detective's investigation to the September 17,1796 George Washington's Farewell Address ( at www.bartleby.com/43/24.html)
In that historical document,I learned that George Washington was not only an outgoing US President but somewhat of a philosopher with an eye toward the future. This particular excerpt from the "Address" described the potential destructiveness of political parties and makes my point,
" 17...They serve to organize faction,to give it an artificial and
extraordinary force;to put,in the place of the delegated will of
the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enter-
prising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate
triumphs of different parties,to make the public administration
the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongrous projects of faction,
rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by
common counsels, and modified by mutual interests."
Somehow, the former President foresaw the problems that would beset the
fledgeling nation and offered his counsel at that time.
The nagging question is whether old George heard all the
2011 and 2016 partisan political commotion in Washington, DC and the nation ?
